Unit 11b: At a conference Listening 1
Good morning everybody.
Welcome to the 7th annual International Sales Conference.
It's great to see so man of you -old faces and new ones!
Now we're going to havee two very busy days as usual,
but I am sure you'll enjoy them.
As soon as I finish, which won't be long,I promise you,
we'll begin with our first session,
which is our Sales Manageers giving their Ntional Sales Reports
for their own countries.
We'll stay together for that session
as I feel it's useful for everybody to see the overall picture.
Then,after we've had lunch,
we're going to divide into groups to discuss our targets for next year and how to reach them.
At four o'clock we'll come back together again
when amy Carter, our guest speaker, gives her presentation.
As you all know, the consultants Allman & Partners have been looking at the say we answer the telephone throughout the group
and Amy is going to give a short report on their findings.
Her presentation will probably finish just before 5.30.
Dinner this evening is at eight o'clock.
We'd like everyone to meet in the bar for drinks from about seven o'clock.
That way we can enjoy a drink together
until the coach leaves for the restaurant at 7.45.
Tomorrow morning we're starting at nine o'clock with a look at ways of marketing the new product.
This'll also be a workshop session.
Then there'll be a coffee break
before we come back together again and share our ideas with a feedback session.
And that will bring us to the end of the conference and a farewell lunch.
So,that's enough from me.
I'd just like to wish you all
an enjoyable and successful two days and hand you over to jodie Cox,
who's going to start with a look at Canadian sales.
Unit 11b: At a conference Listening 2
So how did the conference go,Jodie? Oh it was good.
All the sessions were interesting and all the speakers were really good.
The organisation was a lot better this years as well.
I think having a smaller number of people there made a big difference.
You know, you could actually get things done in the workshops
and make decisions a lot more quickly.
There were about 30 delegates altogether, which was just perfect.
And how was the hotel?
Fine. The conference rooms were a good size
and the hotel rooms were clean and very comfortable.
I really liked the hotel a lot.
I think we should go there again next year.
And how was dinner on Saturday?
Ah,that was probably the only thing that people really complained about.
The food wasn't very good and the service was slow.
If we go back to the same hotel again,we'll have to find another restaurant.
