Here in Muyunan painting village in China's Eastern Shandong Province, government efforts in rural revitalization have made a big difference for local life.
The painting centre behind me was refurbished in 2017 and I've come down to find out how things have changed for the local community.
Since its refurbishment, this painting centre has acted as a community centre for retired residents who want to try out a new hobby.
It's also become a draw for tourists.
Aside from tourists, artists from all over the country now come here to work in a relaxed and slow-paced environment.
They can work, and stay at one of the many minsus opened throughout the village.
Work continues in the village, ready to welcome more visitors this year.
It's a clear sign that although it's been a quiet couple of years, the future of this village certainly looks colorful.
